97% of all Treatment for Addictions in the U.S. is based on an almost identical Model: That Alcoholics Anonymous attendance and the work of its 12-step program is the only legitimate form of recovery from substance abuse.
How We're Different:
- We believe that strong recovery is based upon
a client's sense of empowerment and choice.
- We blend the best of Mental Health Therapy with
Addictions Therapy.
-Every client is unique--and treated as such.
- Separate men's and women's programs because
they're more effective for our clients.
- Healthy Life Skills and Sober Support Networks
as opposed to "AA is Everything."
- Motivation Enhancement rather than Confrontation
and Resistance.
- Therapy instead of Court Ordered Treatment.
- Therapist education, experience, and continuity.
- Our client characteristics--the people we serve:
One of the most outstanding
elements of our program is that we very carefully screen the clients
who will become part of our program--not only so that they will
get the maximum benefit from our methods, but so that they will
be open to the kind of change that makes a group work well and hold
together for real support.
All our clients are high-functioning
in a minimum of two ways: (1) They are intelligent and able to comprehend
a more complex view of reality, and in fact want to know MORE, rather
than a simplified version of addiction; and (2) They tend to have
an ability to relate to and to support their peers.
Part of our screening process
is that 90% of our clients are "self or therapist referred"
rather than "court referred." In practice, this means
that while we are certified to provide court referred therapy, we
screen out those who don't have a true desire to change. The end
result is a dynamic, generous group of people who are excited by
their journey in recovery.
- We're optimistic about our clients' success--and
have good reason to be.
